Nature

One of Nicoya’s top attraction spots is Barra Honda National Park, which forms part of the Tempisque Conservation Area. There are some exquisite 42 caves and the park itself serves as a home to several rare species.

Various eco-systems provide habitat for numerous plant species and animals. As with all of Costa Rica, the Nicoya Peninsula is blessed with some spectacular natural assets ranging from turtle beaches, to subterranean caves, birding hotspots, and maritime riches which are protected in several nature and wildlife reserves.

History & culture

Nicoya is rich in history and culture going back centuries – the Church San Blas, founded in 1644, exhibits ancient religious artefacts, and sits on the forefront of a biddable Costa Rican village, known for its old colonial style build.

2km away from Nicoya city is an unforgettable art space, showcasing the vibrant and spirited culture of Costa Rican folk art. Case de Arte, Curime is an enriching gallery that houses pieces of art inside and outside, and is considered a must-see for those looking to feel inspired.
